Kahai is the first company in the world to industrialize “Cacay”, an Amazon tree that produces very tasty nuts, from which a precious cosmetic oil and a highly nutritious protein are extracted.
Our mission is to establish Cacay Crop as an alternative for sustainable economic development, and turn it into Colombia’s biodiversity icon.
Kahai is dedicated to the production, transformation and commercialization of Cacay tree products. We integrate the whole value chain, from wild collection, where we develop awareness campaigns to disclose the potential of the species and prevent it from keep being deforested for firewood. Through wild harvest, we are generating income for more than 200 peasant and indigenous families in conflict zones.

We have been developing the technology to grow these trees and through grafting we have been able to reduce the unproductive period from 8 to 3 yearsincreasing productivity by up to 80%.
We developed machinery for processing nuts, oil, and protein, and we seek to achieve “Zero Waste” through the integral use of the fruit and its bypoducts..
We have over 650 hectares of own plantations and we are promoting crops to reforest 5,000 hectares with cacay in Colombia’s Orinoco and Amazon regions, involving:
• Peasant and Indigenous Communities, through social programs with the support of NGOs and government institutions, as an alternative for illicit crops substitutionand to generate economic growth in remote areas.
• Farmers and Investors for the establishment of commercial plantations, that allows to increase supply, generate scale, and strengthen theindustry.
