In Caquetá, cacay, asaí and plantain are planted to halt deforestation

Farming and indigenous families in the Caguán basin and piedmont of Caquetá cultivate 170 hectares through agroforestry systems to assist in conservation and sustainable rural development.

Caquetá is one of the departments with the highest deforestation figures in the country.
According to Ideam’s early warning report for the first quarter of 2020, the latest official data available, this department lost 25,064 hectares.
There, 1,166 polygons without forest were identified with areas ranging between 10 and 100 hectares.
