A Colombian cosmetics company has opened up markets in Europe and Asia with products made from cacay, a nut that grows in the Eastern Plains and the Amazon, according to Proexport.
The Kahai company uses the so-called “Amazon almond” as a base to produce cosmetics with nutritional and anti-aging properties that it exports to Germany, the United States, South Korea, Thailand and the United Kingdom.
“All the companies in the world seek in innovation an added value for their products, and for us the success was born from Colombian biodiversity,” explained Kahai’s general manager, Alberto Jaramillo, quoted in a press release.
The company’s most recent achievement is a facial cream with cocoa bean oil that was included in the catalogs of the Nurse Jamie brand, preferred by some Hollywood actresses, added Proexport.
The president of Proexport, María Claudia Lacouture, said that “in addition to biodiversity as one of the great competitive advantages for the cosmetics sector, the supply is getting stronger because there is variety and entrepreneurs are adjusting their products to the specific needs of market niches”.
“Since the formation of the company, we have worked hand in hand with Proexport Colombia in the search for international clients. And after our participation in several international fairs we conquered the European market and consolidated the alliance with the CBI of Holland, the cooperation agency of that country”, added Jaramillo.
